Contact Our Support Team
1. What is a .org domain?
.org is a generic domain extension operated by Public Interest Registry (PIR). It is commonly used by organisations, nonprofits, communities and projects that want to share a purpose online.
2. Who can register a .org domain?
Individuals, businesses and organisations worldwide can register an available .org domain, subject to registry policies and applicable laws.
3. Do I need to be a registered nonprofit?
No. Nonprofit or charity status is not required to register a .org domain. Registering a .org domain does not itself establish nonprofit status.
4. Can I register a .org domain from the UAE or another country?
Yes. .org is available internationally and does not require residency in a particular country.
5. How much does a .org domain cost? Is VAT included?
Check the pricing table for current registration, renewal and transfer charges. First-year promotional prices may differ from renewal prices. Review the order summary for applicable VAT or other taxes before payment.
6. How long can I register my .org domain for?
.org registrations support terms of 1 to 10 years. Select from the registration periods available at checkout.
7. Can I transfer my existing .org domain to Gatehills?
Yes, provided the domain is eligible for transfer. Unlock it with your current registrar, obtain the authorisation or EPP code, and submit your transfer request. Applicable transfer locks and domain status restrictions must be cleared first.
8. Does a transfer include an additional year?
An eligible .org transfer normally includes a one-year extension to the existing registration period. Exceptions can apply, including registration-term limits and certain recent renewal situations.
9. Does .org support domain privacy, DNSSEC and internationalised names?
Yes, .org supports these features. Privacy is subject to service terms, DNSSEC requires compatible DNS configuration, and internationalised names must use supported languages and characters. Check availability through Gatehills before ordering.
10. When will my domain and website become active?
Your domain must first be successfully registered and configured with the correct DNS records. Website and email availability also depend on their service setup. DNS updates become visible as cached records expire, so timing varies.
11. Are hosting and email included?
Check the included-features section for the services provided with your registration. Email forwarding redirects messages to an existing address; it does not provide a hosted mailbox. Website hosting and mailbox services depend on the package you select.
12. What happens if I do not renew before expiry?
Your website and email may stop working. Contact Gatehills immediately to check your renewal options. If the domain is deleted and enters redemption, a 30-day restoration window normally applies and additional fees may be payable. After redemption, a five-day pending-delete stage follows, during which restoration is unavailable.
